IPOH – Tarian poco-poco yang popular sebagai aktiviti riadah dalam kalangan suri rumah dan penjawat awam ketika menghadiri kursus dan majlis keraian telah diputuskan sebagai haram oleh Jawatankuasa Fatwa Negeri Perak baru-baru ini.
Mufti Perak, Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria berkata, tarian tersebut diharamkan kerana ia mempunyai unsur kepercayaan agama lain iaitu Kristian selain pemujaan roh.
Katanya, keputusan sebulat suara itu dicapai pada Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Fatwa Negeri Perak kali ke-186 yang bersidang dari 24 hingga 26 Januari lalu.
“Kajian mendapati tarian yang sering diamalkan di Jamaica itu bercirikan agama Kristian. Oleh itu haram bagi orang Islam mengamalkannya,” katanya ketika dihubungi Kosmo! semalam.

KOTA BARU: A woman's suicide attempt was foiled by a mattress, just hours after she had an argument with her boyfriend. The distraught woman, who in her 20s, had earlier threatened to jump off from the roof of the three storey KB Mall n Shopping Complex in Jalan Hamzah.
However, quick action by the Fire and Rescue Department saw her being rescued with the aid of a mattress, which the firemen brought along to cushion her fall.
The drama unfolded when a shopper spotted the woman holding a knife pointed on her neck, standing on the roof edge of the shopping complex at 3.30pm. The shopper immediately alerted the police.
While waiting for them to arrive, the shopper and several others sought to persuade the woman not to go ahead with the act. They, however, failed to convince her.
At 3.54pm, 16 firemen led by state Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operation division) Shahril Yusma Mohd Yusof arrived at the scene.
"Some of us were preparing the equipment, while others had gone to the roof top to coax her from jumping.
"My men on the roof were involved in a scuffle with her for about five minutes as we tried to prevent her from jumping.
"They were also afraid that she would hurt herself as she was holding a knife, but they failed to stop her. She jumped off the roof and fell onto the mattress," said Shahril.
He said the woman was then sent to the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital for treatment.
The incident attracted hundreds of passers-by at the busy shopping at the mall, the biggest in the state capital.
The incident also caused heavy traffic jam in Jalan Hamzah and Jalan Sultan Ibrahim.
