Troglodyte village in IRAN 700 years old

In the north east of Iran at the foot of Mount Sahand in Kandovan, the villagers live in cave homes carved out from the volcanic rock.

The age of some houses is more than 700 years.
Very impressive. They also have electricity!

Selling her grandma in ebay~

When selling an item on eBay there is a strict etiquette - give an honest appraisal of the goods including their faults.

So when ten-year-old Zoe Pemberton put her grandmother up for auction, she was brutally honest.

Among the many points listed were 'annoying and moaning a lot', although she admitted 61-year-old Marian Goodall could be 'very cuddly and loves word searches'.

Making her point: Zoe Pemberton put her grandmother Marian Goodall up for sale on eBay. In the background is the image seen by prospective buyers

It was, of course, only meant as a joke. But that didn't stop dozens of people placing bids that reached more than £20,000 before the auction was shut down for breaching 'strict sales policies'.

The sale began on Sunday, when Mrs Goodall was feeling down in the dumps after returning from hospital in pain following treatment to a knee injury.

Zoe was apparently feeling a bit annoyed at being constantly asked 'to do things like make her a drink' and decided to do something to cheer both of them up.

Her father Thomas Pemberton, 31, who cares for his disabled mother at their home in Clacton, Essex, said: 'I could hear Zoe asking mum lots of questions about her favourite drinks, food and height but I had no idea what she was doing.

'She called me over, pressed the confirm button, and said, "I've put Nan on eBay". I couldn't believe it. I had no idea she knew how to do it. She had even got a picture of my mum.

'Zoe didn't want to sell her nan but wanted someone to come here and look after her. It was really quite sweet. I didn't tell her off and it certainly brought a smile to my mum's face.'

Withdrawn: Mrs Goodall was removed from eBay which does not allow humans to be listed - but only after attracting bids of over £20,000

Describing the motivation for the sale, Zoe said: 'She was annoying me. She was moaning at me. I was on the laptop and suddenly thought I'd put her on eBay.

'I didn't know how much we'd get for her, maybe 99p.'

Mr Pemberton, a single father, added: 'We've had loads of inquiries asking if mum comes with a guarantee or MoT.

'Within a day there were £1,000 bids. Then it went £2,000. I couldn't believe it. Then when I last checked it was £20,541. I was amazed but my mum wasn't. She said she was worth millions.'

Mrs Goodall, a widow who has five children and 12 grandchildren, added: 'I just went along with it really.'

The auction was halted by eBay on Tuesday. Spokesman Jenny Thomas joked: 'While no doubt Mrs Goodall would have fetched a princely sum, eBay does not allow the listing of any human being on the site.

Nature's perfect cone

Masatrigo Hill Nature’s Perfect Cone

Ok, so maybe it’s not exactly perfect, but Masatrigo Hill, or Cerro Masatrigo is as close as you can get to finding a natural cone-shaped landmark.

Cerro Masatrigo, or Masatrigo Hill, is a cone-shaped hill located in Badajoz province (Extremadura autonomous community) in western Spain. Geographically Masatrigo Hill also lies in the territory of La Siberia district, or comarca as it is called in Spain.

La Siberia is a land of varying terrain. In the southern part of the district lies the foothills of the Sierra Morena mountain range which can be responsible for the Masatrigo Hill too. Two major rivers - The Guadiana River and The Zujar River - flow through the region, creating vast peneplains in the less mountainous areas. The region's inhabitants have created several reservoirs along the rivers, providing locals with ample water resources. The Hill is located on the La Serena reservoir, which is the largest in Spain and the second largest in Europe. La Serena alone holds 6% of the country's water. Because of all the reservoirs, La Siberia contains the longest inland coastline of any region of Spain. This reservoir has always been a summer tourist center.
Showing a perfect volcano shape Cerro Masatrigo has always been mistakenly called an extinct volcano and even given a name of “magic mountain”. And while there are still some dark spots in the hill’s geological history, it is all clear with its morphological history with Masatrigo meaning literally a “wheat dough”.

World's tallest horse record

He's ten feet tall with his head upright, weighs 3,000lb, and stands at 20.2 hands at the shoulder.

So is Poe the Clydesdale the world's tallest horse?

His diminutive owner Shereen Thompson thinks so - and said she wants to 'get the Guinness guys here as soon as possible'.

Giddy up... and up and up: Poe the Clydesdale towers over his owner Shereen Thompson in Tupperville, Canada

Inching above his rivals: Poe, shown here with another horse on the Canadian farm, stands at 20.2 hands

Poe stands 6ft 8.75in (80.8in) from hoof to shoulder. That is taller than the current tallest horse Remington, who was declared the official Guinness World Record holder only last week at 80in in Princeton, Texas.

Living on Ms Thompson's working farm in Tupperville, Ontario, ten-year-old Poe stands ready to inch above his rivals.

'We want to get the Guinness guys here as soon as possible,' said Ms Thompson - who is dwarfed by her gentle giant, who towers over her 5ft 3in,120lb frame.

Neigh high: Ms Thompson, who is just 5ft 3in, is dwarfed by the gentle giant

'We have known for a while that he could be the tallest horse in the world, we just need to get the official documents that the people in London want to see.

'Poe is 20.2 hands and I know that Remington is 80 inches tall, so that means that Poe has him beat.'

Consuming two bales of hay, 10lb of grain and 75 gallons of water each day, Poe needs all the energy he can to support his enormous frame.

The elephant-sized equine belongs to the Clydesdale breed of working farm horse. He was rescued by Ms Thompson from a neighbouring farm when she learned the owner there was having problems with him.

Feeding machine: Poe, shown here taking a gallop through the fields, eats two bales of hay a day to support his massive frame

It was not a case of neglect, just ignorance of how much is needed to feed a horse of this size,' Ms Thompson explain. 'So we brought him in and began to feed him up.'

That was in February of 2008. A horse like Poe needs about 18 months to rebuild his strength, Ms Thompson said.

'Poe used to work in nearby London, Canada, pulling the crates of Budweiser, rather like the horses of Youngs Brewery used to in London, England,' she explained.

'We built him up over time and then began to realise his sheer size as he bulked out.'

Named after the famous author Edgar Allen Poe, this giant horse spends the majority of his time now running the fields of Ms Thompson's farm.

'We take him to fairs across Lambton County,' she said. 'He is extremely popular, but his size always means people keep a cautious distance from him - although they shoudn't, as he is a real puppy.

'But he does sometime forget his strength and drags me along if he wants to play or go chasing something that has caught his attention.'
